Morris and Watson is a fourth generation family business with traditional values.

From humble beginnings some 90 years ago, Morris and Watson now employs over 120 staff and boasts Australasias largest machine manufactured chain department as well as their large, well-equipped refineries, laboratories, fabricating/alloying and casting departments.

The head office operates out of an extensive factory in Auckland, New Zealand. In addition, Morris and Watson operates factories and retail spaces in Sydney and Brisbane, in Australia. In 2007, Morris and Watson Thailand was set up and in 2010 the new premises in Bangkok, Thailand was officially opened.

While Morris and Watson has undergone extensive growth since it first opened for trading, the company has never lost sight of its core values. Morris and Watson continues to work with the jewelry industry to deliver what it expects, superior products coupled with friendly, expert knowledge.

Morris and Watson has grown significantly over the years and now employs over 120 staff and boasting Australasias largest machine manufactured chain department. The Company also operates a fabrication and alloying plant, casting and finishing shops, a precious metal refinery and an assay laboratory out of its Onehunga site.
The RoleMorris & Watson Ltd is seeking a person to work 40 hours per week. The position involves preparing and fabricating precious metal products at our Onehunga premise. Responsibilities include;

  • Performing pyrometallurgical (melting) procedures such as fabricating precious metal alloys, bullion and other precious metal products, in an accurate, safe and timely manner
  • .

  • Performing product preparation procedures such as resizing (drawing down), cutting and measuring to specifications requested from the vault, for customer orders


  • Performing administrative procedures such as weighing, transferring metal samples, stocktaking and distributing alloyed products under the instruction of the senior staff within fabrication and vault departments.


  • Correctly use personal protection equipment such as eyewear, face mask, heat protective equipment and respirators when required as well as contributing and participating in a safe working environment through actions, attitude and feedback.


  • Performing manual tasks such as replacing gases cylinders, operating valves and extraction equipment and maintaining equipment (rollers, furnaces) under the instruction of senior staff, in an accurate, safe and timely manner.


  • Maintaining a safe, clean and functional fabrication department and any plant equipment within it, including plant maintenance and gas and chemical stocktaking.



The Company's head office is based in Onehunga, Auckland. but we have expanded operations internationally, with sales offices in Brisbane and Sydney and a second manufacturing plant in Bangkok, Thailand.

The job requires a conscientious approach to working within a team environment, preparing and processing precious metal products for jewellers and investment brokers.

Experience is an advantage but not a necessity since all training will be provided.

The right candidate will need to be honest and have an attention to detail regarding quality, weighing and following instructions including written operating procedures.

The RoleMorris & Watson Ltd is seeking a person to work 40 hours per week. The position involves processing and assembling jewellery chain (necklaces & bracelets) for many of the products Morris and Watson sell to the largest jewellery retailers in Australasia. The role is located in our Onehunga premises. Responsibilities include;

  • Assembling components to create finished and semi-finished various jewellery chain products that Morris and Watson provides


  • Performing tasks such and cutting, soldering, cleaning and package of the various jewellery chain products that Morris and Watson provides


  • Performing general and specialized machining tasks when maintaining plant or creating new tooling to be used in the various production undertakings at Morris and Watson.


  • Correctly using personal protection equipment such as eyewear, face masks and heat protective equipment when required as well as contributing and participating in a safe working environment through actions, attitude and feedback.


  • Maintaining a safe, clean and functional Chain department and any workspaces and equipment within it.

The job requires a sound knowledge of general machining and fabrication operations is needed as is a ‘can do’ attitude.

You must take pride in your work to ensure high levels of output and quality are always maintained, as the products we sell are intended to be displayed and sold in some of the largest jewellery retails stores in Australasia.

  • Performing routine and emergency maintenance of specialty precious metal refining, fabricating and production equipment, at the direction of the Engineering Manager


  • Assisting in assessing and performing maintenance tasks on building, utilities and projects related to maintaining production of the various precious metal products and services provided by Morris and Watson


  • Performing general and specialized machining tasks when maintaining plant or creating new tooling to be used in the various production undertakings at Morris and Watson.


  • Correctly use personal protection equipment such as eyewear, face mask, heat protective equipment and respirators when required as well as contributing and participating in a safe working environment through actions, attitude and feedback.
